Oriental Buffet Stockport

Okay so I've been here a few times now, and when ever I need a last minute cheap chinese local buffet it is first on my list! It's situated on Grand Central in Stockport (well what's left of grand central!) it's been taken over by car parks recently!

It's around £12 a head and it's not bad for a Stockport buffet! It's not out of this world but I find that buffets are not ever really out of this world!

There's a good selection of starters and mains, I always start with duck pancakes and they are just as good as anywhere here, and then spare ribs, spring rolls ad prawn toast. I tuck into mains and then finish with deserts! See my pics below!

Overall it's worth the money and a good eat when you are in need of a good comfort eat!! So if your struggling of somewhere to eat give it a try!

Big Student Night In!!!

So the big student night in was on Tuesday 30th September, my excuse for not writing this post sooner is that I was a typical student after this event and went to get drunk with my friends at another student event so I was too hung-over the next day… so I do apologise!! J
So I was invited down to this event be Vikki and Helen at LFJ PR, I jumped at the opportunity as I love going to events and it is always good to get a post out of them! I am in my final year at university now so I do not really attend student stuff as I have always lived in the city and know my way around, plus I kind of fell to grown up now to be a ‘proper student’ but I thought I’d branch out and go!

This event has been running for ages, it is on around the end of September so that everyone has time to settle in, it’s also a good event for you to go to with all of your new flat mates! There are sooooo many discounts on for students it is ridiculous, so be warned if you go next year save some of your student loan!
Topshop was a war zone area, they should have had a sign on the front saying
'Enter at your own risk!'

DJ's outside on Market Street, drew a crowd of people and dancers!

Chance to win money!

Busy, busy streets of Manchester

I took my little sister along with me for the night, when we arrived there was just a mass of people walking around, it was held at Manchester Arndale. We had a wander round as I had to find the PR manger, and then we got going. We queued up for a couple of the things as there was loads going on, you could spin this big wheel to win prizes, if you were wearing yellow you could enter a competition to win money and the list goes on.

I didn’t really get the chance to do much shopping as all of the popular shops were literally queuing out of the doors, and for the sake of a new top, I just couldn’t be bothered. This event takes a lot of stamina and preparation to queue! Eat first and take a drink… you’re going to need it!!
So other than the manic student shoppers and queuers it was a good night. There were DJ’s on throughout the Arndale and outside on Market Street and some shops even had their own little events going on, it was definitely worth a visit. Plus if you pre-register you can get a £5 voucher to spend! I was lucky enough to recieve a £10 gift card which I will go back to spend, so thank you to LFJ PR for that!

I must say my favourite thing was these two grannies driving round, we couldn't stop laughing!!

We then grabbed an ice cream from outside the Arndale and hit The Picadilly for a burger and a bottle of Wine!

Buy Art Fair & Dimitri's!

Okay so this post is wayyyyy overdue! I went to this event on Thursday 25th September but I have been sooo busy this week I am only just catching up with myself today! I’m back at University and I’ve been to a few events recently so I’ve had no time, so I’m going to jam you with posts over the next couple of days to catch you up with my time!!
So the Buy Art Fair is an event I have attended with my dad for the past few years. We really enjoy going to look at the different styles of art and design for both enjoyment acting posh and snobby and inspiration. As I am an aspiring fashion designer and technologist, my dad is a professional photographer so we are both looking for inspiration constantly.

We were invited to preview night which is great, the few days after preview especially the Saturday is so busy you can’t move, so the preview night is nice as you can kind of float round and take your time…plus there is free wine!! There is always so much I love here, but I had snapped a few pictures of my favourite pieces, which are shown below. As any art lovers will know, it is not always particularly easy to take pictures at an exhibition, as not everyone is happy about it, so the photos are not from the best angle or greatest quality but it gives you a taste of what it is about! Make sure you register yourself for free tickets next year!!!

Normal Gallery Art and Sole Artists...

These were so clever, it was like a line drawing but made from thin wire and placed over a pice of paper.

These were my favourite pieces as I am very fond of abstract art!

Contemporary Art...

These rugs were really amusing to stand by as people didnt want to walk over them but they were there to be walked over as the artist wanted you to stand above the black hole and view the depth.

My mum met us towards the end of the show and we decided to go for a bite to eat. We wandered down Deansgate towards the car and stopped off at a place called Dimitri’s Bar and Tavern. It was a cute little bar, we had 10 tapas dishes for £40, which I think, is a bargain for town! Plus, it was delicious. We couldn’t squeeze desert in but when we asked for the bill they brought me and my dad an aperitif (mum was driving) it was a shot served with a wedge of lime and the waiter said to suck the lime first and then drink the shot and it would taste like cheesecake, it did!!! It was such a yummy way to finish off dinner when you could not fit a dessert in! The bill topped up to around £60, which is fab for three people having dinner and drinks in town, I would definitely recommend you taking a visit here!

We started the meal with a btottle of Corona and Lime

 So much food!!!
