MMU Final Year Collection!

So last night I went to see the final years collection showcased at Victoria Baths in Manchester. I am on placement year so next year it will be me showcasing! I cannot wait now after seeing some of the work on display. There was wine and nibbles as you would expect with any art or fashion show case but it always makes looking round seem a little bit more fun! I got accidentally drunk at an art show once in Manchester with my dad but that’s a whole different blog story. The work was all fantastic, very interesting designs and wowed me ready for September when I return.

I have put links underneath with the name of the student; the link will take you to their email address in case you want to contact them with any questions about their work.

So the image below; I loved the bridal collection by Alice as a set, I really liked the idea of having the same colour ran through, and the power suit look paired perfectly with the wedding and bridesmaid dress. The menswear collection I have also chosen to show here by Matthew was actually selected to be showcased in China...WOW! My fav piece of the collection was the 'shiny' suit!! The centre bottom red and white suit by Katie was also selected for China showcase! I think the style looks like it has an oriental feel and think they have all done a fantastic job!!

The montage below top left is the pink coat by Maizie, I really like the image she shot for her display, and the boldness of the pink contrasted against the white background makes it really stand out! I didn't get a card for the top centre garment I just really liked the style of it, so if anyone on here looks let me know in a comment so I can give credit where credit is due ;) The same goes for the top right picture, I snapped this because of all the butterflies hanging around it, it looked really effective. The bottom right image is a Neoprene Biker jacket by Rohini I absolutely love this style for ready to wear AW, I think the chunky zips and the arm panel detail is really effective! The centre bottom image shows a dress by Hannah, this one got me really excited because I really want to use the laser cutting machine which has created the effect on the bottom of the skirt, it just makes a really nice finish to what would otherwise been a plain dress. I also don't know who the bottom right garment is by but it interested me so I got a snap!

Lets start with the dress by Lucy, the laser cutting obviously also attracted me to this one, i loved the floaty style of the top and the bold burnt orange stripe across the bottom! The top right garment is a piece by Sophie, I'm not sure of the concept behind the style as I didn't get chance to look through her work that went with it but it is definitely creative!! It reminded me of a miss match of my favorite baggy jerseys and a bright pink tutu...it's still got my mind going thinking about it though so I guess it has done the job! The bottom right dress is by Jessica, I liked the pattern on the top of the dress, I was a bit unsure of all of the gathering but the shiny metallic fabric makes it work so it balances out!

More or Less!?

More or less…whichever you fancy, the real deal or the copycat, one’s expensive one is less expensive!!

Okay so with Beyoncé and Jay Z hot in the press at the moment after all that palaver in the lift, I thought I’d try and find some style steels. One of my fav outfits for Queen B was at the beginning of January, I can't imagine wearing something like this in January, I live in the UK, its freeeeeezing this time of year! But summer is nearly here (WOOHOO) and I love this style for relaxing at the park, going to the beach and exploring new holiday destinations. I found the real deal and some styles similar with a much lower price tag!

Nike Air Max 1 Liquid gold More: 1, 2, 3, 4 Less: High Top, Platform Trainer

Jay Z, well this style isn't going to suit for all guys but I like to cater for both sexes so as I was looking for Beyoncé’s style I had a hunt for Jay Z’s as well. To be fair I think the style he went for this day on the beach looks quite fresh, lose fitted jeans and a white t-shirt is to die for in my opinion, paired with white sneakers and a snapback, pretty cool!! I couldn't find his exact t-shirt, i'm pretty sure the logo is a Versace logo, so I found the current Versace t-shirt instead! Even Blue Ivy matches them both…adorable!!

Grey Sweater: More: All Saints Crew Neck Less: Crew Neck Jumper

I also found a couple of other Beyoncé two piece style outfits, I love the two piece look, it was big last summer and by the looks of things from retailers like Missguided, New Look, Boohoo and Topshop, they are coming back again!!

I'M BACK!!!

So guys I know it has been a while since my last blog post but tbh Aprils challenge kind of wiped me out a bit!! Plus I’ve had a week’s holiday from work so I have been catching up with old friends and family over the odd glass of wine or two, or three, maybe four! I have also been busy making jewellery but more on this will come in the next few weeks!

So something that kept me busy whilst I have been away from the computer is a party I attended last week…it was my aunties 40th birthday and she had a zombie themed party. It was awesome!! I decided I wanted to go as a zombie Rapunzel from Tangled.

I had a dress in my wardrobe from when I was a bridesmaid a few years ago and I couldn't get in it anymore, so I took to a pair of scissors and hacked away. I cut the front bodice open down the centre and shortened it to just below the knee. The material I had taken off the bottom I used some of to put behind the bust so my chest wasn't all out! I then created holes using a little zigzag stitch on my machine and threaded the ribbon through. I had a bag of lace netting lying around that my Nan had given me so I used this to trim the bottom hem and the bottom of the bodice. I used what I had left of the bottom trim offs to make wide strap sleeves which I then added the floaty sleeves too which I had also made from the lace trimmings.

Before at the wedding...

After I'd altered it and make-up...

So what do you guys think??

Don't think I did too bad for a couple of hours and a bit of DIY!

The wig is from eBay so if anyone’s looking to do a Rapunzel look it was a bargain at £11.49 , I then glitzed it up with some flower clips that I got from the local £1 shop!

My friend Lauriel did our makeup and we all loved it, absolutely amazing!! Find her on Instagram and get your Halloween bookings in early, as you can imagine from the makeup she will be in high demand!!

Here's a few more snaps from the party...

Hopeyou've not missed me too much guyss ;)

Have a great weekend!! Time for a glass of wine for me and my bestie! Peace and Love xx
